Shot Collar

Collars are everywhere! And that's just fine with me. 

I have a few collared blouses and dresses that I just LOVE! I think they are understatedly sexy and feminine. They look especially chic with a pulled up coif or a messy bun.

We did a bad, bad thing

We did a bad, bad thing. And at Nordstroms no less! My girlfriends and I decided to go to Nordstrom's Cafe after a much needed R&R lunch break out of the office ON Friday. Lunch was lovely and on the way out, we decided that we would give the shoe department a quick look.

A quick look at the shoe department turned into a quick look at the jewelry department, which eventually turned into a full blown shopping spree. I don't know if it was the rush we were in because we were on our lunch break or the incredibly helpful shoe salesman, but we did some serious damage. And quick.

I mean, it all happened so fast, I don't even know if we can be held accountable. The above may or may not include some of our mad dash purchases.

Color Punch

Truth be told: I've never been a huge fan of the word "pop." Phrases such as "pop of color" and "pop it in the oven" kind of drive me up the wall. I've found myself using the word "punch" to replace "pop." I think I'm onto something big. Some kind of shift in our design lingo. Here are some fantastic rooms with just the right "punch" of color. Enjoy...

Merrily Wed


My best friend, Nicole, got engaged over the weekend and I could NOT be happier for her and her soon-to-be hubbie! She called me right after it happened and within about 2.5 seconds of hanging up, I was already dreaming about the bachelorette party... the champagne we needed to pop ASAP... her engagement gift!

Dream Home: Bathroom Edition

So, I've mentioned it a few times before, but my boyfriend and I are home hunting! This past Sunday, we went out with our Realtor (who is conveniently my sister) and looked at our first round of homes. The first few homes we toured were less than ideal. The beachy neighborhood we want to buy in lends to pricey homes and dated construction... one we looked at was built in 1910... seriously. But the last home we toured was... perfect. It had everything we wanted and more, the price was right....and right before we were about to give them our offer, we found out that the home is currently involved in a lawsuit with the neighbor over the parking situation. Our first major letdown as homebuyers! Boo. The serach continues!
One room in the house that I instantly fell in love with was the bathroom. It had a built-in dark wood vanity with a gorgeous white porcelain sink. The beautiful bath got me thinking... I might need to do some major redesign in the bath if we want it to be perfect so I built an inspiration board of luxurious bathrooms. Chickety check it out!

MAC has always seemed like an iconic make-up brand to me. MAC was the first makeup store I've ever been inside of and the first one to really get me excited about makeup.

Though I don't use MAC products beyond their lipglass and eyeshadow, the new "Fashion Sets" makeup collection has me really excited. The collection is based on MAC's best-selling colors of all time. Each of the seven sets in this "best-of" collection includes lipstick, lipglass and nail lacquer. You can shop this collection starting yesterday, May 3rd, in stores & online.

Travel & Design

I still get all giddy when I get to stay in a hotel... Is there anything better than snuggling up under a ton of fresh sheets, ordering room service, scrutinizing the toiletries and not making the bed in the morning? I love it. 

I travel a bit for work and I travel as much as my bank account can afford. I've stayed in a myriad of hotels- some bad, some good, and some really bad. One time, I let a friend make arrangements for a hotel in Florida. It was a complete dump. The hotel owner proudly told us that every room was furnished with items from local garage sales... yeah, we got attacked by bed bugs on that trip. I've also stayed at GREAT places like the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. THAT was insane. I swiped the toiletries, seeing that they were nicer than the things I had back home! 

Beyond the toiletries, sometimes, I want to take a piece of the hotel home with me. Whether it is a lamp on the bedside table, the mirror in the vanity or a design element in the bar. I've traveled the internets to find some amazing design elements in some of the most beautiful hotels in the world. Enjoy the trip :)  



I stayed in the Barbie Suite on a work trip one time. The Suite is even pinker and girlier than these pictures could ever portray. It's truly fantastic!
