Three Layer Cake Honored With Liebster Blog Award

The beautiful and talented Tiffany Leigh from The Designer Lifestyle awarded me with the Liebster Blog Award yesterday! I was so honored to receive this award, especially because it is from a fellow blogger that I think is simply wonderful. And sweet! I'm ever inspired by her work.

So, what is the Liebster Blog Award you ask? The Liebster is an award given to up and coming blogs, having less than 200 followers. The word "Liebster" is of german origin, meaning "Beloved, Dearest, or Favorite."

Being a young blogger, I think this award is Uh-Mazing. Creating threelayercake has been a really rewarding experience and it's nice to know that the love and time I've put into threelayercake is appreciated and read by you! I've been inspired and met so many inspiring people along the way.

I want to pass on the same happiness that receiving this award gave to me! Here are some of my favorite up & coming blogs! Enjoy!

1. Kate from Something Fabulous
Kate's posts are like butter. Everything is laid out beautifully and seamlessly. There is a beautiful flow in her blog design. And her style is spot-on. I love her posts on design... I love her posts on fashion... I love her posts on food... I basically love it all.

2. Nikki from Carry on Couture
Does Nikki's style get any cuter? She puts together fabulous looks that seem effortless and she is definitely not afraid of bright, fun colors and accessorizing. Her fashion blog doubles as a travelogue as Nikki is currently on the road with "Bring it ON: The Musical." Fun! Oh, and her dog, Olive, is adorable. Check her out!

3. Jessica and Whitney from Fanciful Loves
Meet Whitney and Jessica from Fanciful Loves. Their forte is being creative on a budget. One thing I immediately noticed about these girls is that they just exude happiness. It seems like they truly enjoy life and putting together each post. They do live in Austin, Texas so can you blame 'em? Simply, their blog makes me happy :)

4. Sabrina from Sample Size 16
Sabrina's blog is chalk full of fashion fun! Her style is fun, eclectic and sometimes (self admittedly) daring. Her blog is based on the notion of being able to look stunning at any size and price point. Sabrina mixes affordable finds with high end pieces and she references her outfits in each of her posts, which I REALLY appreciate. I just want to swim around in her closet :)

5. Astrid from Poise and Vogue
Astrid's blog is sooo visually pleasing. I have a lot of fun looking at every single post.

Congratulations ladies! You deserve it!
Please feel free to pass along the love and award the Liebster Award to 5 more inspirational bloggers!

Breakfast Pizza

My boyfriend and I went on an amazing vacation to Italy last summer. We toured Milan, Venice, Florence, Tuscany and Rome. I am not kidding you when I say that I had pizza for almost every meal. Here I am in a country of culinary ecstasy and I just couldn't help myself. Maybe it was the promise I made myself that calories were nonexistent on this trip and that I would eat exactly what I wanted but I quickly figured out that all roads don't lead to Rome... they lead to PIZZA

I cannot explain to you just how delicious the pizza was in Italy. The bubbly crust... the fresh cheese... the cured meats... the "rocket" that added a slightly bitter taste. Ahhh I want to go back! I need my fix! Not surprisingly, I found yet another excuse to eat pizza. Pizza for breakfast :)

scrambled or over easy

Prep: 15 minutes | Cook: 10 | Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients:
2 large eggs
2 round pita breads
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
3-4 slices bacon, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons cilantro, roughly chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Cook bacon in a medium skillet over medium heat until crisp. Cool and roughly chop. Set aside.

Roughly chop cilantro. Set aside.

Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray. Place pita bread on baking sheet and sprinkle tops with parmesan and mozzarella cheese.

Hollow out a circle in the middle of the cheese on top of the pitas and crack an egg into the center. If you're messy like me, crack the egg into a bowl first to make sure the yolk stays intact. Lesson learned- ha! Season with salt and pepper.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until cheese/crust is golden and the egg is cooked. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle top with bacon and cilantro. Enjoy!

Office Inspiration

For those of you who are wondering how the office decorating is coming along... it's comin'. Swear! I am still waiting for items to arrive in the mail and waiting for more money to magically appear in my bank account (I thought I had the $500M lotto on lockdown) so I can buy everything on my wish list. In the meantime, here are some pieces that are truly inspiring to my version of the dream office.

By the way, did I mention how hard it is to find the perfect, and I mean THE PERFECT piece of art? I've been on the hunt... meaning I've been to every Z Gallerie, Pottery Barn, Michaels and HomeGoods within a 20 mile radius and I've visited tons of online art store that I could possible think of! I finally stumbled upon the fabulous and talented Leigh Viner. I fell in love with her piece "Cricket." I think it has the perfect combination of girly yet professional, don't you think? Visit Leigh Viner's Etsy Shop to browse more amazing prints!

{{{ Spin Cycle }}}

I love that long, flowy skirts have come back in style. Long skirts were all the rage back when I was in my early teens. I remember wearing a long grey skirt to my seventh grade dance and thinking I looked pretty hip. Hah! Whenever I wear my long skirts, I just want to spin in circles and imagine that I'm back at my seventh grade dance... fun :)

Pretty in Pastels

Neons seem to be on trend right now but with Easter right around the corner, it's nice to see these creamy pastel colors back in play. I love the buttery yellows, fluffy pinks, breezy blues and minty greens... so dreamy and very much on trend.

Hung up on you

I am a little crazy for iPhone covers. What started as an investment in protection for my clumsiness has turned into a full-on obsession. Here's a collection of my favorite pop art, studded, and dream-state covers. Which one is your favorite?
